WEDNESDAY 9 th November 2022

Methodist Chapel, Galgate

The President welcomed all those present in the hall and on Zoom.

The Chair for the evening was John who outlined and explained the
program for the evening.

The first session comprised of two 6-8 minute prepared speeches
Albert – “An Anglophile we can best do without”
This humorous speech talked about people arriving by boat,
particularly a certain Bram Stoker character applying to and working
for the Blood Transfusion Service.

James – “Arran – The Reunion”
The speaker attended a school reunion and when there went hill
walking in inclement weather and in the mist he met an old school
colleague who sent him in the right direction. At a meal that evening
it was announced that the friend he had ‘met’ on the walk had
unfortunately died six months earlier!!

The speeches were evaluated by fellow members.
The Chair for the Topics Session was John and the subjects included
but were not limited to ‘Bonfire Night’, ‘A Visit to the Theatre’, ‘A
